I’ve just been looking through http://matchstickmolly.com/ and it’s really made me think about what I’m doing.
She has pages on the damage the disorders will cause, how to try and over come them and how to get fit and active, without starvation or binge/purge cycles.
One page even talks about how 95% of diets don’t work.
If you suffer from an eating disorder, or diet to the extreme, take a read. It might help and change your thinking and learn you to love your body.
I think I’ll try and take the advise on the website, however, as many with EDs know, it’s not all that easy to turn around.
Self-injury is defined as any deliberate behavior that causes physical harm but is not done with conscious suicidal intent that a person engages in to manage or decrease emotional distress. Self-injury is something that is often misunderstood, even by helping professionals. Because it evokes such strong feelings (fear, powerlessness, disgust) in others they may label the self-injurer negatively and shy away from providing needed help. For example, many who self-injure are labeled as “borderline” or “manipulative”. This is why increasing awareness is so important. Notice the first signs, break the silence and help raise awareness!
